The Universe, God, and Stephen Hawking

By now everybody and their brother has read a variation of the "Stephen Hawking Says Universe Not Created by God" story.  In his forthcoming book "The Grand Design," Hawking states that gravity, not "god," is to thank for the beginnings of our universe.  And rightly so.  Hawking is one of, if not the most preeminent theoretical physicists in the world and I'm guessing he knows what he's talking about.

But let's not let Hawking have the last word!  Here's a (terrifying) sampling of world opinion, brought to you by the most reliable journalistic news source in the world: Twitter.
